CrossFit Kid and Teen program

                                CrossFit Kids/Pre-Teens/Teens
Our CrossFit Kids/Teens program is a fully affiliated program run/programmed by Jennifer Stephens CF-L2 and CrossFit Kids Certified. This program is programmed and designed to meet the developmental and individualized needs of your child. Our Kids class offers an inclusive environment where all athletes are invited and welcomed.

Our goal is to foster a love for fitness, increase your child’s health and fitness, improve focus/concentration, build self-confidence, and teach new skills. In order to accomplish this your child will complete various movements and progressions to teach and develop new skills. We do not help the child specialize in one skill but to better prepare them for general physical fitness that can transfer to any sport or activity they choose to participate in. The focus of the movements selected have a direct functional carryover into their daily lives; while building strength and improving health.

Coaching Ratios: Due to the different developmental needs of the 4-9 age range class, we utilize more than 1 coach with an assistant to be able to break down the group into smaller groups that are developmentally appropriate. This means that your child will be with developmentally similar children and a 4 yr old will not have the same expectations as a 9 year old has. The same accommodations are made between our pre-teens and our teenagers.

What does a CrossFit Kid or Teen Class look like
Warm up: Your child will get their body moving through the warm up of the day which may consist of rowing, dynamic movements, a game, or a combination of these things.

Skill work: Your child will then be coached through a particular skill or movement progression that is the focus of the class. This may be teaching progressions towards pull ups or jump ropes or agility work.

WOD (Workout of the day): Your child will then complete the WOD (based on their age/ability) where they have an opportunity to practice the movement/skill they just learned in workout format.

Game or skill work: For the younger crew at the end of class we will try to make time for a quick game that gets them moving in a fun way before we end. For teens this may end in a skill session, fun game, or mobility work.

Pre-requisite skills for an athlete to attend: NONE. We accept all kids/teens as they are and where they are. We will work with your child to adapt and scale as needed or change movements out based on individual needs, and scale up based on skills and abilities as well. Our classes are run with multiple trainers/adults to help coach and assist as needed so your child gets the individual attention need to maintain a safe working environment.

EXPECTATIONS FOR KIDS/TEENS
1. Respect the adults: The adults that are coaching/assisting you are there to ensure your safety is the number 1 priority. It is important that you respect those adults and the guidance they are giving you regarding a movement/weight being used.
2. Work hard: Your priority during this 45-60 minutes is to get the most out of it you can; so try your hardest, push yourself, and challenge yourself mentally and physically.
3. Listen to instructions: It is important for your safety that during the class you are able to not just listen to but follow all instructions given. This may include staying off of equipment or waiting for instructions before trying a movement out.
4. Be a good sport: Everyone is in class with different abilities and backgrounds. Be respectful of your peers, cheer them on, encourage them, and praise them when they do a good job. If a peer is struggling be an encourager rather than a bragger.
5. Leave your ego at the door: Walk into class willing to learn something, accept your weaknesses, and embrace your strengths. Understanding that this will change from day to day.
